Richard has over twenty-five years of experience in energy, marine, professional liability, construction & real estate, and insurance litigation.

Richard has tried cases involving marine and onshore energy production and distribution, pipeline failures, refinery incidents, chemical plant explosions, and onshore and offshore personal injury and property damage. As a maritime lawyer, he is well versed in cargo, collision, inland marine, Jones Act, Death on the High Seas Act, limitation of liability, and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act claims.

Richard defends errors and omissions claims on behalf of real estate, construction , accounting, law, architecture, and engineering professionals. He also represents defendants in insurance brokerage and policy placement suits. As coverage counsel, he has handled coverage disputes involving general liability, business risk, marine, inland marine liability and property, energy, property, professional services, insurance agency and brokerage, and business interruption policies.

Finally, as a commercial litigator, Richard handles subrogation prosecution and defense, mineral and land title prosecution and defense, and contract review and litigation.

Richard is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell. He is Texas board certified in Consumer and Commercial Law and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Insurance Practices Section of the State Bar of Texas.
